Valerie Ciocca Holt’s work is focused on enhancing the individual and team competencies needed for effective engagement in interdisciplinary research. Valerie completed her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Lehigh University after graduating summa cum laude with a degree in Psychology from DeSales University and earning a M.Ed. and a M.B.A., also from Lehigh University. Her dissertation study, Graduate Education to Facilitate Interdisciplinary Research Collaboration: Identifying Individual Competencies and Developmental Learning Activities was a consensus study of interdisciplinary scholars and scientists and was recently cited in Enhancing the Effectiveness of Team Science (2015) published by the National Research Council, N.J. Cooks and M.L. Hilton, Editors.
Valerie has professional experience in graduate student development at Columbia and Pepperdine Universities and served as the Director of Administration and Special Programs in the College of Engineering and Applied Science at Lehigh University and as the Director of Education and Outreach for PBS affiliate, WLVT. Valerie worked in Continuing Education at Penn State University and in Graduate Medical Education at a PA Teaching Hospital and served on the PA Governor’s Council for Child Development and Early Learning before joining CPRE as the ECDataWorks Project Director.
