Senior Research Specialist, CPRE
Senior Research Associate, School of Education, University of Michigan
Diane Massell (Ph.D. Stanford University) received her doctorate in educational administration and policy analysis in 2000. She began her career in the education program of the National Conference of State Legislatures, and first joined CPRE in 1991. Her current interests focus on how different types of evidence are accessed and used by state education agencies, and particularly the role of intermediary organizations in that effort. A research project examining the use of evidence in the design of SEA interventions for low-performing schools builds upon her earlier work evaluating federal comprehensive assistance center providers’ support for SEAs. Other studies include an evaluation, with the American Institutes for Research, of the impact of state supports in Michigan on low-performing schools.
